Though the shape of the pyramid makes the climb more challenging, the way these horned monsters use each others’ bodies as footholds due to their sheer numbers spells trouble.

Now that I think about it, there was once a magic I thought designating a target was impossible before I gave my powers to Emmy.

I just immediately made Eve’s weapon imbued with the glimmer of dark magic instead of replying.
I can see her surprise in her eyes so I tell her immediately that this made the blade cut very well so she should be careful herself before I turn to the other two.
They show their weapons to me since they have already got the gist of what I want to do.

Sybilla says so after seeing both of their weapons already clad by dark magic as she turns around while I position myself in the back.
The monsters that we can just slightly see earlier are now in full view in front of us.

So its this kind of monster that is living in here, huh. Looks like its basic attacks involve bites and headbutts based on its appearance.
It will be tricky to deal with it in close combat.

The needle wolves race up in our location slowly spreading out in an attempt to surround us.
…This behavior which is similar with the needle rabbit from the first floor tells me that these monsters are being directed by the demon lord.

This much perhaps is enough to deal with normal adventurers but unfortunately, you’re messing with the wrong enemy.

With my right hand holding on to my sword, I use my left and imagine the whole landscape of the pyramid where we are standing being engulfed by my magic.
The offensive dark magic forms like a rain at the top of our heads before they descend and starts to shower the wolves.
With the double casting of Dark Splash making it more condense, these monsters have no safe place to go no matter where they move. Not to mention that the closer they are with each other, the smaller the space they can maneuver due to the magic’s effectiveness getting wider.

An offensive magic that no one can either dodge or defend.
…In such a place where there are no obstacles — it’s a place where my magic can feel free to rampage!

[Oh~ Russell’s magic gave the monsters quite a good beating right there! That demon lord even directly commanded the monsters but look how it totally backfired! Ahahaha, so pathetic!]

Looks like even the monsters crawling up on Sybilla’s side made its moves as well.
It’s unfortunate for these wolves though as they’re within the range as well of my magic bombardment.

But then if my magic reached Sybilla’s side who’s in the right then there should be no problem on the left side either

As expected, monsters on the left side where Eve is have been devastated by the magic as well.
I keep my concentration tightly and continue chanting my magic and its double casting to avoid any interruption while observing Eve.

In front of her is the same needle wolf. With an immediate sidestep that even I can barely follow, she takes the initiative to get closer.
In her left hand which is covered by a thick glove, a small shield is firmly equipped. She uses the shield and drills it into the monster’s mouth with an incredible speed.
The same moment the monster attempts to bite the sturdy shield, the knife on Eve’s other hand rapidly descends to the monster’s neck. The knife went through the monster’s neck like a slight touch is enough to make it melt.

Sybilla mentioned that Eve is hiding her fangs but the way she unleashes it right now makes me doubt who’s the real wolf between her and the monsters.
The performance she showed earlier on the first floor against the needle rabbits wasn’t that bad. But it seems that that isn’t enough to gauge her true abilities.

Seeing no monster moving anymore here on my side with my magic being the most efficient dealing in this kind of situation, I called on to Eve.

[No need! There’s only quite a few of ‘em here so everything okay. More importantly, these bunch right here will be my bounty so I gotta dice ’em real great!]

I trust Eve to hold on to her word and turn my attention to Emmy who’s behind me.
Emmy is on the side of the strangely wide staircase connecting the top of the pyramid to the ceiling.

Her shield brilliantly shines and blows the wolves away… Seems like the wolves will end up just dead if they can’t afford to land safely.
Her shield is one thing but her sword skills aren’t to scoff at either. She grew up swinging a wooden sword after all, and on top of her abilities as a Holy Knight, the property of my dark magic is fighting alongside Emmy as well.
Yep, seems like I don’t really have to be worried on this side either.

The number of the monsters that have swarmed towards us sure makes this floor worthy of its reputation as part of lower levels but I have to say that these monsters aren’t that strong as I expected… Or, perhaps it is really this much?
Not good, I have to keep in mind that this dungeon is made by that demon lord. Though it can only be annoying at best right now, I should never let my guard down.

[Sure, all the monsters from each side seems to have been taken care off already anyway… Oh by the way, this place’s ceiling is too dark, don’t you think?]

Sybilla then casted another magic but this time it is Flame Strike. Even among Sybilla’s arsenal, it is one of her strongest ones.
The flame reaches the ceiling and then—!

Though it may be vague, I can be certain that I heard a monster’s scream from the direction Sybilla’s Flame Strike.

Eve and Emmy start to move in accordance with Sybilla’s instruction while fending off the monsters.
Then at the next moment, sound of flesh breaking down along with the noise of rushing winds descends on our location.

What appeared is a monster that is akin to a dragon albeit smaller with its wings that just got burned.
But before it can stand on its feet, my sword is already on its way to sever its neck along from its body.

[It is a basic in battles to seize the higher ground! As such, we don’t need to look anywhere else but down. Since what’s on top of our heads is just the first floor, I didn’t think much of it but… because of that, I failed to notice it immediately. The fact that the huge space between the first and second floors is made to provide a pathway for monsters to get through…!]

And here I was thinking that these wolves are kind of weak for lower levels’ monsters.
They were just diversions for us to keep our attention below and let the wyvern or other monsters above us to take advantage of after all…!

And the scariest thing about this is… this obviously higher class of monster called a wyvern is the one who’ll smack us from behind.
